Sometimes things happen. Especially with technology, it can feel like devices have a mind of their own. But if something occurs with your air conditioning system, there may be ways that you can fix the issue without having to call us. So, don’t hit the panic button just yet! Continue to read to get the information you need before you make that phone call.
1. Check the thermostat batteries
This one may seem like an obvious thing to check, but you’d be surprised how many calls we get from folks who are not aware their thermostat batteries have died. Of course, this problem would only occur if you have a battery-operated thermostat. So, for everyone else, this problem wouldn’t occur for you.
2. Check your thermostat
Before giving us call about the temperature being wrong or something else that may arise, check the thermostat first. Sometimes mistakes happen such as kids touching the thermostat, or a blackout affecting the program. If this happens to you all you may have to do is check or reset the settings on your thermostat. If you still have a problem, call us and we’ll be happy to help right away.
3. Check Your Home’s Air Filters
We’ve all been there. You’re sitting in your home and notice the AC is not feeling like it used to. So, you may automatically assume it’s broken. Before you pick up your phone to give us a call, try checking the air filters. A lot of times when your AC is not working as it should, it could be because of the air filter has not been changed. Remember it is beneficial to change air filters once a month or every 60 days at most. Doing so will not only help you breathe in cleaner air but will also keep your system running like it should. And who doesn’t want that?
4. Look at the Outside Unit
Check for any debris that could possibly be blocking the surface of the equipment such as leaves, grass clippings or toys that found their way into the yard. If there is, just wipe away the debris or remove tall grass from around the equipment. Now if your outside equipment appears clean and you still have an issue, this would be the time to give us a call. Be sure not to wash the system with a hose or with water in order to avoid damaging the delicate electrical components, or worse, creating a dangerous situation.
5. Check Circuit Breakers
Now this is the last one we have for you; however, this is probably the most important tip. Make sure to check your circuit breaker to see if the power is on. Sometimes during a power outage or a storm, the power can be tripped to the off position. So just make sure that it’s on so you can go back to living comfortably in your home.
